ft desoto dog beach

mukha and i love this dog beach! it's an off leash dog beach on the west coast of florida, on an island south of saint petersburg, in fort desoto park.

last sunday it was so nice and sunny and the beach was packed. we went to the far (west) end for the first time, usually we unload at the first entrance.

jack was giving everyone high fives. mukha is 2 1/2 years old and didn't know how to do hi 5's! she was jealous! but..
she just learned how to do it today after working on it yesterday and today!
she's so smart! i don't think she'll ever be too old to learn new tricks.

mukha's big heart

mukha's such a good girl. she balanced her treat on her nose and let me take lots of pictures. they're cute~ she's adorable, but the treats are too big. there's 2 different sizes though, i'll have to get the small ones next time.. and take more pix of course!

on march 13, 2008, mukha jumped off of the dock into the lake for the first time! good girl, mukha!! after 2 years of trying to get her to! she's still not completely sure about it. here are some pics from her special day :)

it's not her first time in the lake, just her first time jumping in on her own, for fun. she has had a lake in her backyard her whole life and she has always played around in the shallow part, mostly digging up roots. and she's been to the ocean a lot..

rolyn and chanhi loved the lake! in the pic below you can really see their personalities, even though it's a low quality pic. they would both jump in at the same time, get to the stick at the same time, but rolyn almost always got the stick! if chanhi got to the stick first, she would turn around and swim back. she was really sweet and passive and she usually let rolyn have the stick. rolyn was so competitive! look at rolyn, she is looking at chanhi and thinking she is so cool with her big stick! chanhi is like 'whatever'. chanhi was such a calm, swift swimmer. rolyn always tried to swim as fast as she could! she looked like she was trying to run in the water instead of swim! funny girls.

oh! we just discovered alice, our cat, can swim too! she is a really calm swimmer too. last time we put her in the lake she ran on top of the water!

giclee art print, original painting and mukha

a couple of days ago, i was taking pics of one of my weimaraner oil paintings and the reproduction~an inkjet giclee art print on premium canvas. my goal was to show the similarities and differences between them. as i was taking the pictures, though, mukha managed to make herself appear in several shots. i thought it was cute and began making sure that she was included in each shot, until finally my focus was to have just her in the photo! hey, i guess if you have a weimaraner and a camera in the same room, you got to do what you got to do.

here are some pictures that compare an original painting with a giclee print, and also demonstrate how personal weimaraners are~how they love to partake in everything we do and how absurdly photogenic they are.

left is the original painting, right is the giclee print. the original naturally reflects light differently than the print, it's also sitting directly in front of a window with outside light pouring in.

she's still watching. i moved the table to get an interesting shot with her and the art.top/left is original, bottom/right is giclee. here the lighting was more even and they look more alike.
