mukha's 3rd birthday !

mukha's turned 3 on 11.22! it was a great night! we all ate yummy food and played with mukha's new toys! she had fun opening her presents and eating her cake, and eating frozen peas! it's the first time i've wrapped her presents, or made her a cake. the recipe is at the very end of this post. here's a picture of the birthday girl with her birthday beefcake!

mukha doesn't usually destroy her toys, but she was probably thinking, 'it's my birthday, i'll destroy my toys if i want to' ! i'm just glad she had fun! she's so cute :)

i accidently got mukha a dangerous weapon for a toy :( the knotted ball on a rope in the photo below. at first, mukha always put the handle part in her mouth and swung it back and forth and beat herself up with the ball! i tied an extra knot in the rope to shorten it, i tried to put more knots but one is all that would fit. i tried to teach her that it's safer with the ball, not the handle, in her mouth.. but i think she's just learning the hard way!

earlier the same day that mukha was born, my love chanhi passed away. she was the sweetest weimaraner i knew ((until i met mukha!!)). she was so warm and squishy and cuddly! i miss her dearly, but i'm just really thankful that we shared some of our lives together. i hope i get to see her again.
i think she helped hook me and mukha up.. thank you chanhi! by finding mukha and having her birthday be the same day, it has eased the pain associated with that day. it was the worst day of my life, and now it's also the best day of my life!

dog birthday beef cake recipe

here's my version. i changed it to be healthier, i think, and easier!
i added more oats/less flour, an extra egg/less corn oil, and i didn't puree the meat, eggs, oil and veggies.. that's just krazy!
i don't eat meat (except fish sometimes, it's magical..) so i don't know what it tasted like, but mukha loved it!

mukha's birthday beefcake::

preheat oven 350 degrees

in one bowl:
12 oz ground beef
5 eggs
1/4 cup corn oil
handful sliced baby carrots
handful frozen peas
mix n mash it up thoroughly

in another bowl:
3/4 cup flour
3/4 cup oats
1/2 tsp baking powder
mix it up thoroughly

combine beef mix with flour mix and stir it up thoroughly

grease and flour a pan
poor in the cake mix
bake 60 mins.
cool 30 mins
spread cream cheese on top
decorate with peas

( i used an 8x8 pan, and the cake was about 1 1/2 inches thick. she ate almost half for her birthday dinner. the remaining larger half she had for breakfast and dinner the next day.)

mukha and i love sunshine! we love to play or relax outside when it's sunny. several weeks ago when the tropical storm was here, it rained for a week. we were trapped inside and bored the whole time. poor little mukha! anyway, one day (a sunday), the sun finally shined and it made mukha smile :)

i had been wanting to take some photos of us for a long time, i was just really resisting the fact that i was going to have to do it myself. after a couple of glasses of wine one night, i finally decided that we were going to do a little test shoot. it was a spontaneous test and i didn't even clean the room first or set up something more professional looking. i used the timer on the camera and we got in front of a convex security mirror, that has splattered varnish and white paint on it, and i didn't bother to clean it either.
it was a really quick session and mostly we were doing hi 5's and playing, and sometimes i was trying to get her to look towards the mirror or get closer to it. apparently we did a lot of kissing as well! i didn't know exactly when the capture was going to happen and i didn't know what we would be doing when it happened, so all of the photos are random.
i love them! they show so much about mukha~ how amazingly silly, smart, and loving she is, and how we interact with each other. this is exactly how we are. we have so much fun together.

i did a lot of processing and texturing. i used one of mine and some of others, with links to the others. plus there is the splattered paint textures on the mirror.

this was an accidental shot taken while i was metering. i think it's awesome because this is so how we are, we are just doing our thing here and mukha is right by my side! i couldn't even dream of a better friend than mukha! i'm so lucky to have her always by my side :)

yes silly girl, you have cookies caked in your teeth!
one of my favorite ones from the first day, but unfortunately she looks unkempt from her black teeth..
her teeth were actually cleaned a few weeks ago and they're really white! she had her tooth pulled recently and her gums are tender so i soak her cookies in water first and they stick in her teeth for a while, apparently.
this shot inspired me to do the shoot all over again. if it weren't for this shot, all photos from the second day wouldn't exist. so my favorite shot from that day wouldn't exist!

baldwin park dog park:. the lake

when mukha and i finished our first walk in the forest, she found the shade of a big tree and collapsed under it for a second, then immediately got up and walked to the lake and fell in the shallow water and rested! poor mukha, she was so tired and hot, but happy! the water was so clean and cool, and shallow for quite a way. even i got in and walked around, played fetch with mukha and took pictures of her of course! the water is definitely not always this clear and clean looking! so here's the phonepix of mukha in the lake!

mukha and i love this place! there is a little jungle to hike through, a lake to swim in, open space to run through and lots of dogs to play with! i love walking through the forest with mukha. she always runs ahead and investigates and after some time she comes back to make sure i'm still around and then goes on to explore some more, it's really cute. she does this over and over. so of course, sometimes i like to hide a little from her and see what she does! usually i just stop on the side of the trail and wait, or turn down a path a little. i always stay where she can find me though, because one time i 'hid' too well but i could see her and she started panicking! i just want her to be happy so i don't go too far away anymore. anyway.. it's just fun to watch her. sometimes she tracks me really fast, sometimes she goes back and forth a few times before she finds me. the time it takes her to notice i'm not around varies also..

mukha and i love this dog beach! it's an off leash dog beach on the west coast of florida, on an island south of saint petersburg, in fort desoto park.

last sunday it was so nice and sunny and the beach was packed. we went to the far (west) end for the first time, usually we unload at the first entrance.

mukha's such a good girl. she balanced her treat on her nose and let me take lots of pictures. they're cute~ she's adorable, but the treats are too big. there's 2 different sizes though, i'll have to get the small ones next time.. and take more pix of course!

on march 13, 2008, mukha jumped off of the dock into the lake for the first time! good girl, mukha!! after 2 years of trying to get her to! she's still not completely sure about it. here are some pics from her special day :)

it's not her first time in the lake, just her first time jumping in on her own, for fun. she has had a lake in her backyard her whole life and she has always played around in the shallow part, mostly digging up roots. and she's been to the ocean a lot..

rolyn and chanhi loved the lake! in the pic below you can really see their personalities, even though it's a low quality pic. they would both jump in at the same time, get to the stick at the same time, but rolyn almost always got the stick! if chanhi got to the stick first, she would turn around and swim back. she was really sweet and passive and she usually let rolyn have the stick. rolyn was so competitive! look at rolyn, she is looking at chanhi and thinking she is so cool with her big stick! chanhi is like 'whatever'. chanhi was such a calm, swift swimmer. rolyn always tried to swim as fast as she could! she looked like she was trying to run in the water instead of swim! funny girls.

giclee art print, original painting and mukha

a couple of days ago, i was taking pics of one of my weimaraner oil paintings and the reproduction~an inkjet giclee art print on premium canvas. my goal was to show the similarities and differences between them. as i was taking the pictures, though, mukha managed to make herself appear in several shots. i thought it was cute and began making sure that she was included in each shot, until finally my focus was to have just her in the photo! hey, i guess if you have a weimaraner and a camera in the same room, you got to do what you got to do.

here are some pictures that compare an original painting with a giclee print, and also demonstrate how personal weimaraners are~how they love to partake in everything we do and how absurdly photogenic they are.
